Potter and Mr.Warne realize that his brothers believe the book will fail, and collaborate to prove them wrong.

Beatrix Potter and her family spend their summers in the Lakes Region in Northwestern England, where she observed nature and drew pictures of the beautiful natural surroundings. When she drew her illustrations the distinctive pictures literally leaped out of the page at her, as if the characters on the page were real beings. Indeed, her imaginary friends were real characters to her.

Mrs. Potter is disapproving of her daughter’s vocation, as she wanted Beatrix to settle down and marry a respectable man with good social standing. Her parent’s choices of suitors left Beatrix cold, so she had already become a spinster. Her father had aspirations of being an artist when he was young, but became a respectable lawyer instead, a vocation that he did not have a passion for. Her father encouraged Beatrix’s artistic side, much to her mother’s consternation.

Miss Potter and Norman Warne fall in love and become secretly engaged, making her parents unhappy, as they did not approve of a marriage to a tradesman. Still they agree to give their blessings to a marriage if she will summer at the Lakes with them, hoping she will change their mind. Sadly, Norman dies in London while she is away.

Miss Potter’s wealthy parents had threatened to disinherit her at one point, so she checked her finances with her publisher and was delighted to learn that she was a wealthy woman in her own right.

After Norman’s death, Miss Potter decided to buy her own property, Hilltop Farm, in the Lakes Country of Northwestern England. Miss Potter became a conservationist who started buying up farms to save them from development. Eventually she married a lawyer in the Lake Country.
